Program features two browsers: local and remote. Each browser consists
of two main components: left folder tree and file list. Folder
tree may be visible or hidden.
- All file / folder operations (such as renaming, deleting, transferring,
etc) are performed on the items of the file list only.
- Folder tree is used as a quick navigational tool and as a destination for
drag&drop operations: transfers and moving items locally from one folder
to other.
- File / folder operations can be done via the menu items (Local or Remote
submenu of the main menu or a context menu available with right mouse button
click) or browser's local set of buttons.
- There is a busy / ready indicator in the lower left corner of the local or
remote browser.
Busy
Ready |
You can't perform any operation while it's busy.
- Folders are deleted recursively.
- You can move objects inside local or remote system by dragging &
dropping them either to folder nodes in the file list or the folder tree.
- Files in the file list can be filtered, use Filter tool for that.
Note, folders are not filtered and all are visible.
- To sort the items in the file list, click the according column heading.
The second click on the same column changes ascending / descending sorting
option.
- You can rearrange the columns of the file list by dragging & dropping
them. You can also enable / disable columns by clicking with a right mouse
button on the columns headings. You can also resize the width of any column.

6.1.
- Icon, file type (description) of any item is taken from Windows.
- You can call Windows Context Shortcut Menu for files or folders which is
the same that you can see in the Windows Explorer and it allows you to do
everything with the file: "Open", "Edit", "Open
With", "Send To", etc; everything that is defined for this
type of file or folder. Thus the local browser can be used as a full
featured Explorer.
- You can open files. It works this way: if
"open" verb is defined for the file type in
the system settings, then according command is executed, if it is not,
then the default system shell shortcut menu item for the file is
executed.
- Clipboard file operations with cut / copy / paste are
available. When you click Paste and if some folder item is selected
in the list, then the files will be pasted into that folder. If nothing is
selected or file item[s] is selected in the list, then files are pasted into
the current working folder.
- Items can be deleted either to the system recycle bin or irreversibly. It
is set in Tools
> Options > Files.
6.2.
- User can change both icons and descriptions of any item. Use Tools
> Options > Files.
- There are already preset CGI and Apache related file types.
- On upload an automatic chmod can be performed. You can change this in Tools
> Options > Files. FTP server must support SITE CHMOD
command for this.
- Executable files have a small blue exe overlay icon in the lower left
corner of the main item's icon.
- Soft links are resolved using the cached folders. If it is resolved, then the
icon is inherited from the item that the link points to and a small lower left
corner red arrow icon is overlaid over it.
- You can freely download not resolved soft links. At the moment of download
it will be detected if it is a folder or a file.

6.3.
Every time the folder is refreshed (by changing to other
directory, or because changes to the items in the current directory are made)
file filter is applied, and only those files that pass through the filter are
showed. File filter
settings also are applied when you transfer folders. Note that folders are not evaluated against the file filter.
You can turn the filter on and off. When file filter is turned on, the filter
button in the toolbar changes, so you can have a visual feedback that the filter
is applied.

6.3.1.
File Filter is more powerful
and more important than "Select files by name mask". Files that can be highlighted via "Select files by name mask" can
be selected just among those files that are already passed through the filter.
However "Select files by name mask" allows to select folders by the
mask, while filter is applicable only to files.
