8.4.3.1. ASCII/bin assignments, auto CHMOD settings, file types and icons

You can define what icon and file type will be shown for each file in the remote browser. You also can define what mode (ASCII or binary) each file will be transferred in, and if the file would be set any specific permissions on upload via CHMOD command.

To set all these settings you need to edit file "ext.txt" from the program's installation folder (you can use a button in Tools > Options > Files). It is an XML file consisting of two sections: <names> and <extensions>. The former is used to define settings for the whole file names, while the latter is used to define settings based on file name extension.

Each record should follow the XML rules and has the following format. The name of the XML node is "_[0-9+]", i.e. any integer with a leading underscore, for example "_0". The following XML parameters are defined:

It is recommended that each record would be "empty" in the terms of XML, that is, end in "/>". We suggest that you copy an existing record and modify it to fit your needs if you need to add one.
