2. Installation / How to begin using the program

On installation don't close any email, antivirus, antispam and proxy programs, they should be running in order to configure 1EAV properly and to detect possible conflicts.

Note users of Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP: you may need some administrative rights for the installation. If you can't install the software, ask your system administrator or log in under administrator account.

If you use a zip-compressed distribution, extract all files and subfolders from the zip file into a clean folder. Run "setup.exe" and follow the prompts. Please always extract the zip file prior to installation, do not run "setup.exe" from inside the zip file.

If installation was successful, then the program would add itself to the system notification area (tray) near by the system clock and would run automatically. The program also puts itself to the Start > Programs > Startup menu and then will be launched every time you start the computer and will sit in the tray. To adjust the settings or to close the program, you need to bring up its window by clicking its notification area icon.

If you have a firewall, such as ZoneAlarm, then you need to allow 1st Email Anti-Virus to connect to the internet.

1EAV should be compatible with any email client that uses the POP3 protocol to receive email messages. Default settings of 1EAV should be suitable in most situations and all you need is to configure your email client or other antispam / antivirus programs if you use them. See how to adjust mail account settings in your email client program.

In case of problems with the default settings, 1EAV is flexible enough and allows three methods of resolution the mail server address. Please see this section for more information.
